About Zephyr
I started painting with acrylic paint in 2016. I had previously tried photography and drawing as well as various forms of sculpture throughout my life. I paint abstract with naturalistic elements. I get inspiration from many different sources ex. spirituality, energy, the nature of reality, emotional states, gender, sexuality, beauty, nature.
Painting has been my main occupation since 2016. But it is only in 2023 that I have started selling my art - and only in a particular way.
I am critical towards the existing art market and its tendency to ignore most artists and focus on only very few, who's work sell for sky high prices. The art is turned into objects of investment divorced from its true value. The art, which should be inclusive and available for the many, is made exclusively for the rich, and something that the rest of us can only get a glimpse of if we are able to visit a museum somewhere in the world. It shouldn't be like that. Art should be everywhere in people's day to day lives - like should be the case with good furniture or architecture. Art should make our surroundings interesting. Art should make our lives better. Art should be mind blowing and inclusive and as many people as possible should have access to art in their lives.
It has taken me some time to unify my vision with how to approach the art market with my art.
My solution is to multiply my paintings as giclee prints in limited series, for affordable prices. Every print comes with a certificate of authenticity and is signed on the back.
Giclée print gets very close to the original painting. The process of making the prints start with a professional photographer taking pictures of the paintings in high resolution. Then the paintings are taken to the printers (Vester Kopi) and small-sized test prints are compared to the painting. The colors are adjusted, and new test prints are made until it looks right. I check for myself that everything is in order before the final prints are made.
The printing is done with an Epson SureColor P20000, that uses colored ink printed on Hahnemühles Cézanne Canvas. Since the painting continues on the sides, it does not require a frame and is ready to hang up.
It is a relatively expensive process that gives a quality product on par with the original painting. The colors can last for a minimum of 100 years if the print is not subjected to direct sunlight.
You are welcome to come and see my paintings at my atelier in Birkerød near Copenhagen. Contact me for a visit on my Email. If you want to buy a print from me, you have to pick it up at my atelier or at the printer's in Rødovre. (Also near Copenhagen)
